MOLD inspection SAMPLING
Prior to each inspection, the Buck bio-aerosol (air) pump is calibration tested to ensure accuracy of air flow and consistency of sampling.

Each is an individually numbered and coded collection medium, that is photographed and recorded into a Chain of Custody log; to ensure sample location details are accurate. Air sample cassettes are typically overnighted via FedEx to the laboratory, who compares the chain of custody information with the ID on the sample, opens, evaluates, and reports on the spore quantities and counts inside.

WILL MY PROPERTY INSURANCE COVER IT?
Mold testing may be covered by your homeowner's/property insurance policy in the event of moisture intrusion. Some insurance carriers will pay your testing invoice, and others may even allow the assessor to bill the insurance company directly (possibly no out-of-pocket expenses)!
WHAT IF MY INSURANCE CARRIER DOESN'T COVER IT OR I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET? Pricing can be tricky, since it is primarily based on the size of the job and number of air and swab samples we have to take (the laboratory charges us, so, we have to charge you). We make our best efforts before we book the appointment, to quality your damages, areas of concern, room configuration, and square footage over the phone, in order to provide an estimated price range we anticipate for the job. We don't like surprises either!

MOLD FAQ's
- Mold is microscopic organism, a simple type of fungi, found everywhere, both indoors and outdoors, as part of nature. Mold only becomes a problem when it grows excessively or is a type that produces harmful mycotoxins.
- Key Elements to mold growth: “FUEL”/Organic Matter: Fruits & Vegetables, Wood/Paper & textiles (i.e. clothing, rugs, drywall), OXYGEN, & MOISTURE
- Excessive indoor mold growth means there is a moisture problem that must be addressed
- There are approx. 200,000 types of mold species, ranging from helpful (cheese, beer, bread, medicines) to quite harmful to most people (Stachybotrys i.e. “black mold”)
- Mold can grow in temps as low as 39 degrees (F), but some can survive harsh conditions such as the snow-covered soils of Antarctica, acidic solvents, anti-bacterial soap and even petroleum products such as jet fuel!
- Mold colonies may be visible to the human eye, usually appearing in your home as discolored areas, smudged, dirty, or rusty looking patches. Mold may or may not have “signature” circular patterns.
- Mold appears in most every color imaginable. The color of the mold is not always an indicator of it's toxicity, and black colored mold is not necessarily "toxic black mold"
- Mold spores float invisibly through the air, seeking other suitable environments to grow and thrive. It is important not to disturb or blow air/fans onto active mold colonies, as they may cross-contaminate other previously unaffected areas.
- Mold is also virtually impossible to wipe, sand, or scrub away! Yes, the surface mold you see may temporarily disappear, but roots grow D-E-E-P into porous, cellulose-based materials.
- Most household cleaners contain a high content of water … This provides additional moisture to actually facilitate mold GROWTH!
- According to an independent study, sponsored by Clorox Bleach: “Household cleaners, such as Clorox Bleach, are designed as hard-surface (glass, mica, stainless steel, most plastics) cleaners only, and cannot be utilized to satisfactorily or permanently kill mold on non-porous (wood, drywall, fabric) surfaces.”
- Mold can easily grow in S. Florida humidity in 48 to 72 hours!

HOW A DISASTER GOT US STARTED
As a family operated business, the owner of Enviro-Test, LLC chose to work in this industry because ... In 2005 a small airplane crashed into their own home. The firemen put out the fire and tried to save what they could, but their home and most belongings were destroyed in a mess of smoke, fire, and water damage. Since the contractors were held up for weeks, waiting on authorization from the insurance carrier, there were no immediate repairs, and mold growth occurred throughout the home (from the 100's of gallons of water and holes in the roof used in putting out the fire). The professionals who took care of rebuilding their home were amazing, however, a harsh lesson was learned in dealing with the insurance carrier. Not too many years later, the opportunity arose to work with a water/fire/mold remediation company, and they were excited in the hopes that their experiences would bring knowledge and compassion to those dealing with disasters and loss. After a number of years in remediation, the skill set and licensure easily lent itself to a higher understanding and knowledge of mold assessment.
